Sam is a mechanical engineer with 7 years of experience in geothermal system design, energy efficiency, energy engineering, and HVAC systems. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Northeastern University. Sam has been responsible for the design of several geothermal systems, ranging from single high rise multifamily developments located in dense urban environments, including New York’s two tallest geothermally heated and cooled buildings, 1515 Surf Avenue and 1 Java Street, to networked community systems, including L+M Development’s Arverne East Community Geothermal Network and ConEdison’s Mount Vernon Utility Thermal Energy Network Pilot. Sam’s role in these designs include site selections and feasibility analysis, energy modeling, life cycle cost analyses, external funding applications, Building Information Modeling, borefield layouts, and distribution piping design.
