Cindy Zhu has over 10 years of experience working at the intersection of the built environment, energy, and emerging technologies. She is currently a Technology Research III within Berkeley Lab's Building Technology & Urban Systems Division where she works to scale grid-edge technologies that allow building systems, distributed energy resources, and the electric grid to work together to transition toward a clean energy economy. She has led major climate and energy initiatives in both public and private sectors, including at the U.S. Department of Energy. Prior to joining the Lab, she was VP of Smart Buildings at NantumAI, an enterprise software company focused on using AI/ML to decarbonize the built environment, where she led the Customer Success & Grid Services teams. She holds a BS in Biological Sciences from Carnegie Mellon University and an MS in Environmental Policy & Sustainability Management from The New School.
