This tool uses a Google Maps interface and pulls pollution data from EPA/CASTNET/NADP databases and weather data from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA ISD-Lite) database. Pollution and weather data are presented hourly and missing data is linearly interpolated. The tool is limited by the relatively small number of monitoring locations for pollution and atmospheric contaminates.
Air Pollution and Weather Data user guidance:
- Drop a pin on the Google Map interface for the selected location.
- Input a starting year (Default is 2010/1) and Range (Default is 12 months).
- Check/uncheck the boxes of the atmospheric pollutants as needed (Weather data, Sulfur dioxide, Ozone, Wet chloride, Dry chloride, Chloride chem).
- Select “yes” or “no” depending on if site is within the one-mile limit.
- After all parameters have been entered, select "OK, find station and get values." The Pollution tool will find the nearest monitoring station. Note that the weather station parsing of data is shown in the Log to the left of the Google Map. This could take 3 minutes or longer to find a suitable station and download the data.
- Once determined, the tool will identify and tabulate the station for hourly weather data, sulfur dioxide, ozone, chlorides and the distances from the monitoring station to the selected (pinned) location. Completeness of data in percentage is also identified.
