The SpecsIntact Editor is specifically designed for editing facility project specifications. It uses many functions common to other Windows-based programs, with additional customized editing features accessible from its menus, Toolbar,Toolbars assists the user in preparing and editing specifications by allowing quick access to commonly used commands. If you place your mouse pointer over any toolbar button, you will see a tool tip telling you the command associated with that button and TagsbarThe Tagsbar is used by the SI Editor to assist the user in preparing and editing specifications by allowing quick access to commonly used tagging commands. The SI Editor also provides several tools such as the Navigator, Reference Wizard, Section Reference Wizard, and the Submittal Wizard to simplify the editing process.
The SI Editor uses a tagging system for defining elements of information. JobsA collection of projects are created from the Master specifications -- called Sections -- that already contain the tagging markup and display color coding for certain elements.
While editing, you have the option to show or hide elements like TagsSpecsIntact relies on tags to control content, and formatting, automate processes, and generate reports. These special markers, like
and
, define elements and attributes within the specifications. Some tags, like <Page />, function independently. In essence, tags are the building blocks of SpecsIntact documents, Specifier NotesSpecifier Notes <NTE> are paragraphs of information included in the Section written to aid the Engineer, Architect, or Specifier in editing the specification, RevisionsThe Revisions command reveals or conceals Revisions that are tagged in the text. Text to be added is identified with underscoring and the addition tags, <ADD> and </ADD>. Whereas text to be deleted, or Redlined, is identified with overstriking and the delete tags, <DEL> and </DEL>, and measurements (Metric UnitsThe Metric tag is used to indicate that the text encompassed by this tag is in Metric units. The SI Editor's File menu, Print Draft command prints all elements currently displayed on the screen. To streamline edits for specific Job requirements, use the TailoringTagged elements <TAI> </TAI> inserted by the Master Specification writer to indicate specific elements within a specification. These tags allow them to include or exclude requirements based on factors like agency or product. This pre-editing removes irrelevant requirements, simplifying customization for each project (pre-editing) feature to efficiently edit Sections marked with Tailoring tags for specific Job needs.
Graphics within specifications are not currently supported and must be inserted as an Attachment (ATT).

Status Bar

Located at the bottom of the SI Editor's screen and provides the following information:
ARTICLES, Paragraphs, and Subparagraphs up to the sixth level all use the Subpart (SPT) tag.
- The cursor's location within the tagging can be found in the center. In the example above, the cursor is located in a set of Title (TTL) tags, within two Subpart (SPT) tags (e.g., Article 1.2 and Paragraph 1.2.1), a set of PART (PRT) tags, and surrounded by the SectionA set of files within the Division of a Master or Job that covers specific aspects of construction (SEC) tags. To visualize how tags are nested, refer to the diagram in the Tagging Structure Overview. For more information on the Section structure, refer to the Section Format.
- To the left of the tag location you can see the document is ready for editing.
- To the right of the tag location you can see the cursor's page, line, and character position.
- At the far right you can view the time, as well as Caps Lock (CAPS), Num lock (NUM), and Insert (OVR) key indicators. When active the indicators appear in Bold. The Insert (OVR) function is disabled when editing with Revisions.
On-screen assistance is always accessible from the Help menu, SpecsIntact Editor Help, by clicking the Help
