This command can also be executed from the SI Editor's Toolbar, Right-click menu, or by using the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+H.

The Promote Subpart command elevates paragraphs or subparagraphs to a higher level in the SectionA set of files within the Division of a Master or Job that covers specific aspects of construction hierarchy. When promoting a paragraph to an Article, the SI Editor will automatically change the SubpartThe levels below a Part are referred to as Subparts. These Subpart levels are then broken down into and referenced as Articles, Paragraphs and Subparagraphs, although the share the same Subpart <SPT> Tag title to the proper case and mark the change with RevisionsThe Revisions command reveals or conceals Revisions that are tagged in the text. Text to be added is identified with underscoring and the addition tags, <ADD> and </ADD>. Whereas text to be deleted, or Redlined, is identified with overstriking and the delete tags, <DEL> and </DEL>, provided the Job is configured to use Revisions.

Illustration Icon Indicating Helpful HintThe sequence of elevated subparts is determined by the order of promotion, with the most recent appearing first. When promoting multiple subparts, do so in the desired display order, starting from the bottom and working upwards.

  1. In the SI Editor, perform one of the following:
    1. Right-click and select Promote Subpart
    2. Click the Promote Subpart button on the Toolbar
    3. Select the Format menu and select Promote Subpart
    4. Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+H
