This command can be executed from the SI Explorer's File menu.

Current versions of SpecsIntact use the Extensible Markup Language (XML)Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a general-purpose markup language. It is classified as an extensible language because it allows users to define their own tags. The primary purpose is to facilitate the sharing of structured data across different information systems, particularly via the Internet. It is a mechanism for defining and tagging elements of information within documents Format, this function provides the option to save the selected Job or Master to XML format.  This capability is primarily intended for updating older SGMLStandard Generalized Markup Language (SGML) is a standard for defining generalized markup languages for documents. To save selected Sections to XML instead of an entire Job or Master, use the corresponding command on the Sections menu.

How to Save a Job or Master to the XML Format

  1. From the SpecsIntact Explorer, select the Job or Master

  2. Select the File menu and choose Save To XML Format

  3. When prompted to back up the Job or Master, select Backup

  4. From the Backup and RestoreA process used to bring back a backed-up Job, Master, or Supplemental Reference List from the specified location (Drive or other device) to the SpecsIntact system, Backup Jobs tab, select the files to Include In Backup and verify the Backup to destination is correct

  5. Select OK

  6. On the Backup confirmation window, select OK

  7. On the Confirm Selections window, select OK

  8. On the conversionThere are three Conversion options within SpecsIntact. 1) Will convert files to XML format, which is the required file format for SpecsIntact, 2) Will convert an existing Job or Master to use the Automatic Paragraph Numbering, 3) Will convert a Job or Master's manual lists to the automatically Ordered Lists, and 4) Converts the Tag Attribute Tags to UND, ITA, BLD, and CTR. notification window, select OK

Illustration Icon Indicating Helpful HintIf you do not want to save all files to XML, you can deselect by clicking a SectionA set of files within the Division of a Master or Job that covers specific aspects of construction, thereby leaving the Section in the Job or Master unchanged.
