This command can be executed from the SI Explorer's Toolbar command, Right-click menu, or keyboard shortcut Ctrl+A.

This feature will allow you to add Sections from other Jobs on your system. When adding Sections to a Job or Master from another Job, from the tree view, you can select the Job, DivisionEach Master is made up of Divisions containing groups of Sections that cover specific construction areas. Division Names and Titles are in accordance with CSI MasterFormat™(s), or SectionA set of files within the Division of a Master or Job that covers specific aspects of construction(s) by placing a checkmark in the appropriate box.

Illustration Icon Indicating Important Information To NoteWhen you only have one Job in your Working DirectoriesA designated location on your systems hard drive or network drive where the Jobs, Masters, and Templates are stored, no other Jobs will be available for selection, so the Jobs section (top pane) will remain empty.

When you place a checkmark at the Job level, every Division and Section within the chosen Job will be selected. When you place a checkmark at a Division level, every Section within the Division will be selected

When adding multiple Sections within a DivisionEach Master is made up of Divisions containing groups of Sections that cover specific construction areas. Division Names and Titles are in accordance with CSI MasterFormat™, consider selecting the Division, and then unchecking the unwanted Sections.

View Section

The SectionA set of files within the Division of a Master or Job that covers specific aspects of construction can be viewed before adding it to the Job by selecting the Section so it is highlighted (whether it is checked or unchecked) and then clicking the View Section button.

ADD

Will Add the selected Division(s) or Section(s) from the source (top pane) and display them below in the Contents section (bottom pane), with the pending action Add or Overwrite Section listed below the Action column.  When selecting a Section that is already in the Job or Master, you will be asked if you want to overwrite it.

Connect Masters

This command will open Setup > Connect Masters, so SpecsIntact can search your system for additional MasterA group of standard Government agency (Master) Guide Specifications used in the preparation of a Job that are available to you.

Working Directories

This command will open Setup > Working Directories to either select, deselect or add additional Working Directories that are available to you.

Action

All Sections you selected to Add will be listed in the bottom pane, with the pending action add or overwrite listed beside it.

Illustration Icon Indicating Rick-Click MenuRight-clicking on a Section with an action pending will allow you to choose to Undo the action and remove the Section from the Contents pane.

Illustration Icon Indicating Important Information To NoteIf you choose a Section that is already in the Job, you will be asked if you want to overwrite it.  Keep in mind that if you overwrite a Section that has already been edited, you will lose your changes!

Source

The displayed Source indicates where the Sections will be copied from during the Add Sections process.  The source can be from the UFGS Master, a Local MasterA Master that is specific to a District, Region, or AE Firm that contains unique Sections that cannot be found in the Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) Master, a Job, or unknown

Add Sections Common Control

Browse

The Browse function allows you to search your computer system or network drives for SectionA set of files within the Division of a Master or Job that covers specific aspects of construction (.sec) files that you want to add to your Job or Master.

Illustration Icon Indicating Important Information To NoteIf you choose a SectionA set of files within the Division of a Master or Job that covers specific aspects of construction that is already in the job, you will be asked if you want to overwrite it.

All Sections you choose will be listed in the Contents section (bottom pane) of the window, with the pending action Add or Overwrite Section listed beside it.

SpecsIntact provides multiple methods for adding Sections to a Job or Master.  In addition to SI Explorer's File menu > Add Sections, you can also use the drag-and-drop feature, or the keyboard shortcuts, copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V).

How to Add a Section From a Job

  1. From the SpecsIntact Explorer, right-clickTo press the right button of a mouse and release it to open a menu on a Job or Master
  2. From Job tab, below Jobs (top pane), place a checkmark next to the Job you want to copy Sections from
  3. Then place a checkmark next to one or more Divisions to add the entire Division or Expand Illustration SI Explorer's Tree View Expand button the tree view to check Individual Section(s)

  4. Click the Add button

  5. Select OK
