This command can be executed from the SI Explorer's Toolbar command, Right-click menu, or keyboard shortcut Ctrl+A.

When adding Sections to a JobA specific facility construction project that consists of a group of guide specifications (Section (.sec) files) that are adapted to the project, the MasterA group of standard Government agency (Master) Guide Specifications used in the preparation of a Job tab opens to the default Master, and the selectable Divisions are visible. From the tree view, you can select the MasterA group of standard Government agency (Master) Guide Specifications used in the preparation of a Job, DivisionEach Master is made up of Divisions containing groups of Sections that cover specific construction areas. Division Names and Titles are in accordance with CSI MasterFormat™(s), or SectionA set of files within the Division of a Master or Job that covers specific aspects of construction(s) by placing a checkmark in the desired checkbox.

Selecting the Master checkbox automatically selects all associated Divisions and Sections. Similarly, checking a Division box will select all corresponding Sections.

When you place a checkmark at the Master level, every Division and Section within the Master will be selected. When you place a checkmark at a DivisionEach Master is made up of Divisions containing groups of Sections that cover specific construction areas. Division Names and Titles are in accordance with CSI MasterFormat™ level, every Section within the Division will be selected

Illustration Icon Indicating Helpful HintTo expand a Division, click on the tree view Expand Illustration SI Explorer's Tree View Expand button or Collapse Illustration SI Explorer's Tree View Collapse button commands.  When adding a lot of Sections within a Division, consider selecting the Division, and then unchecking the unwanted Sections.

View Section

The Section can be viewed before adding it to the JobA specific facility construction project that consists of a group of guide specifications (Section (.sec) files) that are adapted to the project by selecting the Section so it is highlighted (whether it is checked or unchecked) and then selecting the View Section button.

ADD

Will Add the selected Division(s) or Section(s) from the source (top pane) and display them below in the Contents pane, with the pending action Add Section or Overwrite Section listed below the Action column.  When selecting a Section already in the Job or Master, you will be asked if you want to Overwrite it.

Connect Masters

This command will open Setup > Connect Masters, to select, deselect, or add additional Masters.

Working Directories

This command will open Setup > Working Directories. to select, deselect, or add additional Working Directories.

Action

All Sections you selected to add will be listed in the Contents section, with the pending action Add or Overwrite Section listed beside it.

Illustration Icon Indicating Important Information To NoteIf you choose a Section already in the Job, you will be asked if you want to overwrite it. Be careful, if you overwrite a Section that has already been edited, you will lose any unsaved changes!

Source

The displayed Source indicates where the Sections will be copied from during the Add Sections process.  The source can be from the Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS)The Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) serve as the central database for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), and Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC). A joint effort by these Tri-Services branches, UFGS provides construction specifications used in conjunction with SpecsIntact software Master, a Local MasterA Master that is specific to a District, Region, or AE Firm that contains unique Sections that cannot be found in the Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) Master, a JobA specific facility construction project that consists of a group of guide specifications (Section (.sec) files) that are adapted to the project, or an unknown (a location on your system or added directly through e-mail).

Add Sections Common Control

Browse

The Browse function allows you to search your computer system or network drives for SectionA set of files within the Division of a Master or Job that covers specific aspects of construction (.sec) files that you want to add to your Job or Master.

Illustration Icon Indicating Important Information To NoteIf you choose a SectionA set of files within the Division of a Master or Job that covers specific aspects of construction already in the job, you will be asked if you want to overwrite it.

All Sections you choose will be listed in the Contents section (bottom pane) of the window, with the pending action Add or Overwrite Section listed beside it.

Other Methods for Adding Sections

SpecsIntact provides multiple methods for adding Sections to a Job or Master.  In addition to SI Explorer's File menu > Add Sections, you can also use the drag-and-drop feature, or the keyboard shortcuts, copy (Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V).

  1. In the SpecsIntact Explorer, right-click on a Job or Master

  2. On the Masters tab, below Masters (top pane), locate the Master you want to copy Sections from -- you may need Expand Illustration SI Explorer's Tree View Expand button the tree view to see the Divisions

  3. Then place a checkmark next to one or more Divisions to add the entire Division or Expand Illustration SI Explorer's Tree View Expand button the tree view to check Individual Sections

  4. Click the Add button

  5. Select OK
