This command provides more control over the placement of Subparts so you can easily move them without having to rely on Cut and Paste functions. When you use the left mouse button to drag-and-drop, the Selected SubpartThe levels below a Part are referred to as Subparts. These Subpart levels are then broken down into and referenced as Articles, Paragraphs and Subparagraphs, although the share the same Subpart <SPT> Tag will be deleted from its current position and moved to the location in which you release the mouse button. When you use the right mouse button to drag-and-drop, a pop-up menu displayed below opens providing more precise control on where you want the Subpart moved.

The Navigator's drag-and-drop Move commands give more options and control over the regular Move command executed with the left mouse button. As illustrated, you can either move the selected Subpart before, into, or after another Subpart.

When a Subpart is moved from one location to another, the selected Subpart that is moved will be marked with RevisionsThe Revisions command reveals or conceals Revisions that are tagged in the text. Text to be added is identified with underscoring and the addition tags, <ADD> and </ADD>. Whereas text to be deleted, or Redlined, is identified with overstriking and the delete tags, <DEL> and </DEL> showing it was deleted and then added as illustrated below:

Illustration Icon Indicating Examples ProvidedIn this example, 1.3 ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS was moved to 1.6 ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS. As you see, the icons transform accordingly to show the original Subpart was deleted and the one moved was added.

How To Use This Feature

  1. In the Navigator, select the Subpart you wish to move
  2. Right-click and hold the right mouse button
  3. Drag the mouse to the desired location and release the right mouse button
  4. In the Move and Copy menu, choose Move Before, Move Into, or Move After
