By using this box to assign Specifiers to Divisions on the Master level, all Sections added to the Master are automatically assigned the appropriate Designer for that DivisionEach Master is made up of Divisions containing groups of Sections that cover specific construction areas. Division Names and Titles are in accordance with CSI MasterFormat™. The current MasterFormat™MasterFormat is used throughout the construction industry to format specifications for construction contract documents. The purpose of this format is to assist the user to organize information into distinct groups when creating contract documents, and to assist the user searching for specific information in consistent locations. The information contained in MasterFormat is organized in a standardized outline format within 50 Divisions (16 Divisions pre-2004). Each Division is subdivided into a number of Sections only uses Divisions 00-49, and some of these Divisions are not currently used by MasterFormat™, therefore by default, they are disabled.  To enable Master Specifiers for divisions not used see Setup > Options > Specifiers tab and select the option to Allow specifiers for Divisions not used in the project MasterFormat version.

Frequently Used Specifiers

Illustration SI Explorer's Dialog Box Add Selected buttonSpecifiers can be entered directly in the text boxes, or chosen from the pull-down list (generated through the Setup  > Options > Specifiers tab). Quickly add the selected specifier to the list by clicking the Add Selected button.

Illustration SI Explorer's Dialog Box Modify buttonOpens Setup  > Options > Specifiers so you can create, manage, or modify the list of specifiers.  When adding multiple names, this is the best approach.

  1. On the Specifiers tab, place your cursor in the text field next to the desired Division and enter a name in the text field

  2. Below Frequently Used Specifiers, select the Add Selected button
  3. Select OK

Illustration Icon Indicating Helpful HintIf the Specifiers List has already been created, select the drop-down arrow and select the name from the list.  To learn more, see Setup > Options > Specifiers.

  1. On the Specifiers tab, place your cursor in the text field next to the desired Division and click the Modify button

  2. The Setup > Options > Specifiers tab will open, select a name from the list of Specifiers and click the Edit button

  3. Select the name from the Specifiers list

  4. Once the name appears in the text field, make the necessary changes and click the Edit button

  5. Select OK
