Master name

The Master NameThe Master Name identifies your Master in both the SpecsIntact Eaxplorer and Windows Explorer, and is printed in the top right corner of each page of the Master. Master Names may contain up to 16 letters and numbers with no special characters or spaces is a required field that identifies your MasterA group of standard Government agency (Master) Guide Specifications used in the preparation of a Job in both the SpecsIntact Explorer and Windows File ExplorerThe Windows Explorer is Microsoft Windows file manager application that is included in the operating system. It provides a graphical interface and allows users to manage files, folders, and network connections, as well as search for files and related components. By default, the Master Name is printed in the top right corner of each SectionA set of files within the Division of a Master or Job that covers specific aspects of construction within the Master.

Date Created

Upon creation, the Master is assigned a system-generated date and time stamp.

Master Title

Master Titles are optional and can be up to 64 characters long, including numbers, punctuation, spaces, and both uppercase and lowercase letters.

Rules

  1. Master Titles should be entered in Title Case or UPPERCASE.
  2. May contain up to 64 characters to include numbers, punctuation, and spaces.

Lead Specifier

The primary Specifier that is assigned to the Master.

Source

Used to capture the original Source of the specifications used in your Master. Such as a particular UFGS Release or a Local MasterA Master that is specific to a District, Region, or AE Firm that contains unique Sections that cannot be found in the Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) Master.  For example, 'UFGS May 2017'

Version

Is not required, but can be used to assign version-tracking information to your Master.

Path

The default Working DirectoriesA designated location on your systems hard drive or network drive where the Jobs, Masters, and Templates are stored path will automatically display in this text box. Other Working Directories will be displayed in the drop-down list, if they are selected in the Working Directories window.

Select the Working Directories buttonIllustration SI Explorer's Working Directory button , the SI Explorer's Setup menu > Working Directories, or the Working Direcotries  Illustration SI Explorer's Toolbar Connect Working Directories buttonToolbarToolbars assists the user in preparing and editing specifications by allowing quick access to commonly used commands. If you place your mouse pointer over any toolbar button, you will see a tool tip telling you the command associated with that button button.

Default Settings

Displays the default settings for the Submittal Register Format and the CSISpecsIntact Section formatting conforms to the Construction Specifications Institute’s (CSI) format MasterFormat™MasterFormat is used throughout the construction industry to format specifications for construction contract documents. The purpose of this format is to assist the user to organize information into distinct groups when creating contract documents, and to assist the user searching for specific information in consistent locations. The information contained in MasterFormat is organized in a standardized outline format within 50 Divisions (16 Divisions pre-2004). Each Division is subdivided into a number of Sections.
