This command can only be executed from the SpecsIntact Explorer's Right-click menu.
The Open in Web Browser and Open in Microsoft Excel commands provide the flexibility to control how the exported Web (.htm) files open. This allows you to choose between viewing the data as a web page or opening it for analysis and editing in Microsoft Excel (.xlsx). These options are exclusively available when you are in the Exported Files folder, available in the SpecsIntact Explorer's Contents panel by either double-clicking or right-clicking on the desired exported Web (.htm) file to utilize these options.
By default, SpecsIntact is configured to open Web (.htm) files directly in Microsoft Excel instead of your default web Browser. SpecsIntact provides more flexibility by allowing you to temporarily override the view of exported Web (.htm) files as a web page. To do this, right-click the Web (.htm) file (e.g., UFGS4288.htm) and select Open in Web Browser.
Due to DoD security policies, Web (.htm) files are restricted from opening directly through Microsoft Excel. To ensure the successful opening of these files, make sure you generate them as an Excel spreadsheet, or you can disable the Use Excel to open HTML files in Exported Files folder option within the SpecsIntact Explorer's Setup menu > Options > General tab. This will ensure the automatic opening of web files in the default web browser.
If you prefer that the Web (.htm) files consistently open as a web page in the default Browser, you can adjust the setting within SpecsIntact. To do this, navigate to the SpecsIntact Explorer's Setup menu > Options > General tab, and deselect the Use Excel to open HTML files in the Exported Files folder option. Once this setting has changed, then SpecsIntact offers the flexibility to temporarily override this behavior by right-clicking on an exported Web (.htm) file (e.g., UFGS4288.htm) and selecting Open in Microsoft Excel. This allows you to analyze, edit, and save the Web (.htm) file as an Excel (.xlsx) file.
Microsoft Excel (.xlsx) files automatically open directly in the Microsoft Excel application.
