The purpose of this document is to present engineering guidelines and cost–effective designs to protect assets in fixed facilities against a forced entry and providing egress in compliance with NFPA 101.

This Unified Facility Criteria (UFC) provides enhanced design requirements for Risk Category V (RC V) structures, national strategic military assets designed and constructed for the Department of Defense (DoD). These technical requirements are based on the 2021 International Building Code (2021 IBC) and the structural standard referenced by the 2021 IBC: ASCE/SEI 7-16 Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures (hereafter referred to simply as ASCE 7-16).
