Summary
Reference (a) provides background information and establishes policy for adopting reference (b) as NAVFAC’s single mechanical code. The new mechanical code is published by the three accepted code preparing bodies in the United States; the Building Officials and Code Administrators International, Inc. (BOCA), the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO), and the Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc. (SBCCI). These three bodies, cooperating through the auspices of the International Code Council (ICC), have been working toward a single building code since 1991-coordinating the format, terminology, and technical requirements of their respective existing codes.
