VA Division 27 Interim Specifications (PG 18-1)  

This set of interim master guide specifications must be used for the interior telecommunications backbone and horizontal distribution extending from the entrance room, through the main computer room and telecommunications rooms, to the telecommunications wall outlets. The scope of application includes floor-mounted racks and cabinets in the main computer room and telecommunications rooms, rack and cabinet power and backup power equipment, cabling, and assemblies supporting the power and data cabling.

For other telecommunications systems and equipment, continue to refer to the specifications published on the main PG-18-1 page. Where other systems interface with systems addressed in the interim specifications, such as grounding and bonding, professional judgement is required to ensure safe and operable design and construction.

Coordination and amendment of specification numbers, titles, and content between the two series is required to produce a single coordinated set of construction specifications.

This interim publication is necessary to better communicate and promulgate the design intent and implementation of the Infrastructure Standard for Telecommunications Spaces, while VA continues to evaluate and integrate the interim specifications into the PG-18-1 Master Specifications.
