PWTB 200-3-56 Erosion Assessments: Training Load Optimization for Environmental and Economic Considerations

Date:
10-01-2008

The purpose of this Public Works Technical Bulletin (PWTB) is to inform U.S. Army installation land managers about new methods to help enable more effective training area management and sustainment programs. This PWTB transmits the
step-by-step approach used by the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center’s Construction Engineering Research Laboratory to quantify and rank areas of erosion at Camp Atterbury, Indiana, in 2006. The PWTB also gives lessons learned from the erosion ranking process that led to the investigation of alternative methods that would take into account training loads, environmental conditions, and land maintenance costs. If further assistance or clarification is needed on how to use the methodology, contact Heidi Howard at Heidi.R.Howard@us.army.mil.
