PWTB 200-1-62 Low Impact Development for Sustainable Installations: Stormwater Design and Planning Guidance for Development within Army Training Areas

Date:
10-01-2008

This Public Works Technical Bulletin (PWTB) provides information on techniques and technologies that can be applied in Army training area development and addresses stormwater management and nonpoint source (NPS) pollution control through small, cost-effective landscape features known as Integrated Management Practices (IMPs). The goal of Low Impact Development (LID) is to mimic a site’s pre-development hydrology by using design techniques that infiltrate, filter, store, evaporate, and detain runoff close to the source. The scope includes soil and water conservation, NPS pollution reduction/removal, and enhanced environmental aesthetics.
