Did you know that advanced lighting controls could result in an average of nearly 70% lighting energy savings? Unfortunately, there is an industry-wide knowledge gap about how to utilize advanced controls to capitalize on energy savings and ensure buildings run at peak performance. Slipstream was awarded a grant by the Department of Defense (DoD) Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) to develop a comprehensive training resource on advanced lighting controls.
Slipstream has partnered with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NextEnergy, Fraunhofer USA, Trane, and bluEvolution on this work. This free training resource includes seventeen (17) in-depth hour-long sessions targeting DoD lighting designers and contractors. Topics cover fundamentals of lighting control systems; common advanced control strategies including task tuning, daylighting, occupancy sensing, HVAC integration and emergency lighting; types of controls; case studies; introduction to DesignLights Consortium; and cybersecurity.
The Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP) is the U.S. Department of Defense’s environmental technology demonstration and validation program. The program’s goal is to identify and assess innovative technologies that address DoD’s high-priority environmental requirements efficiently and cost-effectively.
