SpecsIntact for NMCI Users

NMCI users now have three ways to access SpecsIntact (SI):
- Use the currently approved NMCI version of SpecsIntact, which can read and manipulate the latest UFGS.
- Anyone with a prior version of SpecsIntact 3.0 or greater can obtain and run the latest SpecsIntact software files without performing an installation. These files are in a zipped file available online (ZIP 7.8 MB). This zip file will always contain the latest version of the SI software files.
Unzip this file into your "My Documents" folder, open the SpecsIntact folder and double click on the SpecsIntact.exe file. You will have to open these files to access the UFGS in every time. Not all SI functions will work with this solution, and the NMCI user must have an earlier version of SI installed for it to run. - The third solution is to obtain a version of SpecsIntact that runs without requiring a previous or new software installation. This version of SpecsIntact is bundled using a product called ThinApp, and is available online (ZIP 13 MB).
To use this version of SpecsIntact, unzip the two files in the above .zip file into your "My Documents" folder, open this folder, and then run the larger unzipped file, SpecsIntact32.exe. You will have to run this file each time you need to use SpecsIntact. When you first run this software on any PC (with or without an existing version of SpecsIntact), you will be prompted to accept the ThinApp license agreement. SpecsIntact will then prompt you to establish working directories and download or connect the UFGS master. If you already have the UFGS master in a SpecsIntact working directory, you can simply connect it after reestablishing the working directory in which it resides. We suggest that you immediately change the location of the SpecsIntact .ini files and the SI supplemental reference file to a folder to which you have write access. To do this, go to the SpecsIntact "Setup" menu, and then select "Options." At the "File Locations" tab, you can change the locations for both of these types of files.
This third option is only for customers who cannot use either of the first two options above. The use of the ThinApp application virtualization software is unnecessary for customers who can install SpecsIntact or who already have access to it. We encourage those who can run SpecsIntact using either of the first two options above to do so.
