Generating a Federal High Performance Sustainable Buildings Checklist in ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager
Posted: 11-03-09
Version 1 of the Federal High Performance Sustainable Buildings Checklist (Guiding Principles Checklist) is now available through EPA's web-based ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, an interactive energy and water management tool that allows users to track and assess energy and water consumption across entire building portfolios. Federal agencies that are assessing their existing building stock against the Guiding Principles for Sustainable Buildings can use the Guiding Principles Checklist to:
- Conduct initial and final building walkthrough assessments
- Track and easily view progress on each guiding principle
- Upload compliance documents to the repository for record keeping
- Create a portfolio-wide federal building sustainability roll-up report, and
- Review up-to-date energy and water metrics generated by Portfolio Manager
At any point users may choose to take full advantage of Portfolio Manager's energy and water tracking function by entering space use and meter data. The resulting metrics will populate the appropriate Guiding Principle within the Guiding Principles Checklist. Along with other options therein, these metrics and associated reports can be used to meet and demonstrate compliance with the Guiding Principles.
EPA's ENERGY STAR Program, DOE's Federal Energy Management Program, and the General Services Administration have partnered together to incorporate the High Performance Checklist into ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager to assist Federal agencies with assessing their existing building stock against the Guiding Principles for Sustainable Existing Buildings, and for reporting on the sustainability data element of the Federal Real Property Profile (FRPP).
