Metal Box - Use of Shipping Containers as ECM

Magazine MCE ECM Designation Designer & Drawing Number DDESB Approval Date
8800 lbs (4000kg) Unidentified ECM USADAC & Huntsville COE 22-May-95

Comments -
Concept for converting shipping containers (i.e., MILVAN's and ISO) into undefined ECM was evaluated. Since the skin of the container cannot support 2 feet of earth cover, three alternate methods are identified in USADACS memo SMAC-EST (AJ) dated 10 Feb 1995, subject: Analysis of Earth Covered Shipping Containers as Earth-Covered Magazines (ECM), for providing the required earth cover on and around the container. No reduction in QD is permitted.
